How to Compare Mobile App Rankings, Estimated Downloads, Revenue, and DAU/MAU with App Index in Neuro

Check App Store and Google Play free, paid, and grossing charts across Korea, Japan, and the US—and compare daily estimated downloads, revenue, DAU/MAU trends, and share across up to 10 competing apps right in chat.

Place Store Chart Rankings and Competitor App Trends Next to Your Own MMP Metrics

When your mobile app’s CPI rises or daily installs dip, your own ad account and MMP reports only show half the picture. You still need to know whether the entire category slowed down or whether a competing app surged up the charts with a major release or promotion.

Every Neuro workspace now includes App Index as a built-in reference data tool—no setup or credentials required. You can query Apple App Store and Google Play charts across Korea (KR), Japan (JP), and the United States (US), inspect daily estimated downloads, revenue, and DAU/MAU time series, and compare up to 10 apps directly in chat or scheduled prompts.

Three Layers of App Market Intelligence in Neuro

App Index spans store-wide top charts, single-app historical time series, and multi-app competitive benchmarking.

Analysis LayerWhat Neuro QueriesHow Marketers Use It
Store Chart Rankings & Market OverviewFree, paid, and top-grossing charts on the App Store and Google Play in KR, JP, and US, day-over-day rank changes, tracked market totals, and top 10 publishers by downloadsSpot fast-rising apps across target countries and size the top-chart volume of a store or category.
App Profile & Daily Time SeriesApp search by name, developer, or bundle ID, latest rank, rating, install tier, in-app purchase range, plus up to 366 days of daily rank, estimated downloads, revenue, DAU, and MAUTrack how a competitor’s app update, seasonal event, or UA push moved its daily downloads and active users.
Multi-App Comparison (Up to 10 Apps)Period-total estimated downloads and revenue, average DAU/MAU, best free and grossing ranks, and relative download/revenue share (%) within the compared setBenchmark your app against a custom peer group over a specific campaign window.

Store and Category Rules for Clean Comparisons

Because Apple App Store and Google Play structure their charts differently, keeping three nuances in mind ensures accurate cross-store comparisons.

  • Resolve app names to store-specific IDs first: The same service uses a numeric App ID on iOS and a package name (such as com.kakao.talk) on Android. When you ask by name, Neuro searches both stores first to resolve the exact IDs before pulling metrics.
  • Specify the GAME category when comparing mobile games: On iOS, the ALL chart includes games, whereas Google Play’s ALL chart leaves games out and ranks them in a separate chart. To compare mobile games on equal footing across iOS and Android, ask Neuro to query the GAME category on both stores.
  • Understand comparison share denominators: The download and revenue share percentages returned by multi-app comparisons represent each app’s share within the 1–10 apps you selected—not its share of the entire national app market.

Copy-and-Use Starter Prompts for App Index

How to Pair App Index Estimates with Your Own First-Party Data

App Index downloads, revenue, and DAU/MAU are estimates from the Pango Neuro app index engine, not data reported by the stores. Neuro is also set up to label these figures as estimates in its answers. Keep the guardrails below in mind when making campaign decisions.

  • Focus on chart coverage and directional trends: App Index only tracks apps that have appeared in the top charts (roughly the top 100), and the data refreshes every six hours. Apps that have never charted won’t appear. Rely on rank direction and relative period-over-period trends rather than treating daily estimates as exact store accounting.
  • Read zeros and low-volume flags carefully: An estimated download count of 0 on a given day means there’s no estimate for that day—not that the app had zero downloads. Apps flagged as low volume (is_low_volume, DAU under 500) carry a large margin of error, so don’t rely on them alone.
  • Use connected MMPs and ad accounts for your own app’s ground truth: Verify your own app’s exact installs, CPI, and D7/D30 cohort ROAS using connected AppsFlyer, Adjust, Airbridge, Apple Ads, Google Ads, or Meta Ads data—and use App Index alongside them to see how competitors and the broader category moved over the same dates.
